Project Diversion
Berlin, Germany
2019/2020
Research facility discovering alternative building elements from the natural world and affordable housing.
Located along Bernauer Street the site sits within the no-mans land during the cold war which has remained barren ever since. The area context has experienced substantial gentrification causing young individuals struggling to afford housing within the city. This scheme focuses on addressing this issue by building 60 new units ranging from 1-3 bedroom apartments.
The proposal provides jobs for both theory and practical individuals to research, discover, innovate, and manufacturer zero-carbon elements used within the construction industry. This could range from finding alternative power sauces, discovering natural resistance elements, and creating waste-free materials.
